Inspired by the mythical character of Circe, this contemporary piece centers around a Classics professor who has escaped from society, and isolated herself on the side of a remote mountaintop. An isolation that is about to be destroyed by a young grieving video gamer and her long estranged daughter.

The cast included Christine Breihan, Cathy Carlton Hews, Ronnie Clark, Liz Eldridge, Sika Lonner, Kelvin Morales, Raven Pinkerton, Camila Rozo, and Brian Weir. The show included music composed by Liz Eldridge, with movement direction by Christine Breihan and Adam Dlugolecki, lighting design by Brandon Baruch, scenic design by David Offner, sound design by Cricket Myers, costume design by Adriana Lambarri, prop design by Cate Chapman, puppet design by Emory Royston, stage management by Sam Pribyl, intimacy coordination by Carly Bones, and produced by Mark Seldis, with assistance from Jen Kays.

Devised in workshop by Christine Breihan, Ronnie Clark, Liz Eldridge, Jen Kays, Sika Lonner, Kelvin Morales, Katharine Noon, Raven Pinkerton, Camila Rozo, Mark Seldis, and Brian Weir.

“The Getty Villa Lab Series has been instrumental in Ghost Road’s development process for two of our pieces: Orestes and Asterion. Both shows went onto full productions and toured nationally and internationally. Without the support and resources provided by the Getty Villa none of that would have been possible. The Unraveling marks the third time we have participated in the Lab Series. The extraordinary team at the Villa have created an essential space for the exploration and creation of new work.”
